چکیده

Geologic maps are, by their very nature, interpretive documents. In contrast, images prepared from AVIRIS data can be used as uninterpreted, and thus unbiased, geologic maps. We are having significant success applying .AVIRIS data in this non-quantitative manner to geologic problems. Much of our success has come from the power of the Qnked windows Lrteractive Data ~stem. L,inkWinds is a visual data anhlysis and exploration system under development at JI>L which is designed to rapidly and interactively investigate large muitivariate data sets. In this paper, we present information on the analysis technique, and preliminary results t’rom research on potassium metasomatisrn, a distinctive and structurally significant type of alteration associated with crustai extension.

Application of Mixture Tuned Matched Filtering on ASTER Data for Hydrothermal Alteration Mapping Related to Porphyry Cu Deposits in Jabal-Barez Ranges, Kerman Copper Belt, Iran

The study area is located in Jabal-Barez Ranges, southeastern part of Kerman Copper Belt (KCB), where the porphyry copper mineralization such as Kerver occurs. This article deals with the enhancement of hydrothermal alteration minerals for exploration of porphyry Cu mineralization, and differentiates intense hydrothermal alteration zones from those with low intensity. Shortwave Infrared (SWIR) ...

Regional Scale Lithologic Mapping in Western Tibet Using Aster Thermal Infrared Multispectral Data

Lithologic mapping in the hostile and inaccessible mountainous region like the Himalaya and Tibet has frequently been a great challenge for geologists. The remote sensing techniques should be a potential player in lithologic mapping and structural analysis in these mountainous regions. With the successful development of minrealogic indices, e.g., Quartz Index (QI), Carbonate Index (CI), Mafic I...

Discrimination of Geological Top-Formations by their Morphology through SAR Images and via Fractal Geometry implementation in IEM Backscattering Model(Case Study: Zagros Thrust Belt)

Morphological discrimination of geological top-formations is the supplemental procedure of geological mapping; so in situ measurements to register geomorphological data are unavoidable; though due to the impassable and fault cliffs field operations to visit all areas within a geological map is almost impossible. Microwave or radar remote sensing, via synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images is cap...

Investigating Alteration Zone Mapping Using EO-1 Hyperion Imagery and Airborne Geophysics Data

Hyperspectral remote sensing records reflectance or emittance data in a large sum of contiguous and narrow spectral bands, and thus has many information in detecting and mapping the mineral zones. On the other hand, the geological and geophysical data gives us some other fruitful information about the physical characteristics of soil and minerals that have been recorded from the surface. ...

Mapping Lithologic Components of Ophiolitic Mélanges Based on ASTER Spectral Analysis: A Case Study from the Bangong-Nujiang Suture Zone (Tibet, China)

ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection) satellite imagery is useful in assisting lithologic mapping and, however, its effectiveness is yet to be evaluated for lithologic complex such as tectonic mélange. The Mugagangri Group (MG), the signature unit of the Bangong-Nujiang suture zone (BNSZ), Tibet and consisting of ophiolitic mélanges, was previously mapped as a single unit ...
